As a kid I grew up watching a show called Are You Afraid of the Dark? The premise of the show was a group of teenagers that sat around a campfire telling scary ghost and haunting stories and we would watch the story play out on the tv. As I think of it what a crazy tv show to watch as a kid, I’m surprised I didn’t have nightmares. My friends and I would always joke though are you afraid of the dark?
So, you might not be afraid of the dark, but are you afraid of failing? Maybe failure to you is as scary as hearing or watching a ghost or a haunting story.
Does the thought of failure bring chills to your bones and freeze you in time?
I have seen people never activate because they are scared to fail.
The question is what are you focusing on, failure or success? One thing I have learned is that the road to success is paved with failures along the way. Did you get that? Your success is going to be built on your failures. The important thing is to fail forward and not let it hold you back or move you backwards.
If you’re trying to live life as if failure is not an option, you may be making the biggest failure of them all which is choosing not to learn and grow. Failure needs to be an option and pivoting along the way is the way we learn and grow.
Don’t be afraid to fail, be afraid of never trying something new and never stretching yourself enough to explore new possibilities.
Instead of not failing, go forth and fail and learn to reflect and evaluate your experiences.
Sometimes the only difference between being successful or not is the number of failures under your belt. Don’t buy into the get rich scheme, lottery mindset and overnight success. Build it right, put in the work and build for it to last. Waiting for the right time and analysing everything is not the best plan.
Don’t aim, aim, aim, aim and never pull the trigger. Don’t be afraid of missing the mark.
Get ready, aim, and shoot! Win by doing and learning and not by playing it safe.
Grow as you go!
