There are many habits, routines, and practices out there that will help you to grow and become a better version of yourself. We all know reading is good for us. We all know learning from those that have gone before us is a good thing. We may know that gratitude is important, that affirmations help us believe in ourselves and build confidence in who we are. We also probably know that helping others and truly serving others is a good thing to do. But the question is, are we actually doing these things?
This isn’t about creating new habits in our lives such as reading a personal growth book or listening to podcasts that will help us grow. This is about us being aware that the “secrets” to success, significance, and building a life of purpose are already out there. But has it gone from our heads to our hearts?
How many times have you read a book that had questions to answer, or actions to take at the end of each chapter? Did you answer those questions? Did you take those action steps? Or did you think they were good ideas but that just reading them was good enough, you didn’t actually have to do the steps for them to be effective.
Sometimes we think we need more knowledge or a greater understanding of something before we can move forward. Although this can be true in some instances, I would argue that the majority of the time we don’t need any more knowledge. What we need is more doing. More action steps. We are meant to be rivers not reservoirs. The things we learn need to be activated in our lives. And I’m not just talking about adding value to yourself so you can add value to other people. I’m talking about when you add value to yourself by gaining new knowledge are you letting that knowledge actually add value to your life by putting it into practice?
You know that being grateful can change your whole day. Are you actually practicing gratitude every morning? Not thinking about how being grateful is a good thing, but actually slowing down and reflecting about what you are grateful for.
You have heard many successful people talk about how positive affirmations changed their life. Do you have a written-out affirmation that you read every day?
You know that seeking advice from those ahead of you on the journey is a wise thing to do. But do you have a mentor in your life?
You were created to do amazing things with your life. And you have everything you need at your fingertips to start tapping into your potential. The question is, will you implement into your life what you know you need to do?
Your business is counting on you to do it.
Your family is counting on you to do it.
Your future is counting on you to do it.
Let’s make it happen!
