Reflection:
There are many ways to describe love, but lately I have been thinking about kindness. “Love is kind”. As leaders one great way to use our influence is to do it through kindness. As the popular quote puts it, “It doesn’t cost anything to be kind”.
I would take it one more step and say that not being kind can cost you and others a lot.
Kindness can be an antidote to a bad and difficult day. It can flip the script on negativity. It can bring happiness where sadness is present and it can make you feel loved when needed the most.
“In a world where you can be anything, be kind” – Unknown
Think on this:
1. Be kind by expressing appreciation.
Who doesn’t like being appreciated? It’s incredible what a simple thank you can communicate. Express gratitude as often as you can and whenever you can.
2. Be kind by being generous.
Do you live life from a giving posture? How do you give through your time, talents, and treasure? How do you add value to your relationships?
3. Practice small acts of kindness.
Live intentionally. Smile, open a door, encourage, provide a listening ear, show compassion, be present, and show you care.
