Reflection:
Do you find something wrong with everything? Is it easier to complain than to celebrate? Well, if that’s true, you may struggle with negative bias—this idea of focusing on the negative over the positive.
Being overwhelmed by negativity can keep us stuck in the past or scared of the future. It can stunt our growth and affect our decision-making. If we want to be effective and transformative leaders, let’s deal with the positive.
Think on this:
1. Change your beliefs.
Your beliefs can be self-harming. Do you have a harmful belief about your identity, abilities, or competence?
Pay attention to your negative beliefs because they can have painful effects on you.
2. Change your inner voice.
What story do you tell yourself? Do you lie, make excuses, and self-sabotage? Change your story and you can change your life.
3. Change your focus.
What are the positive things going on around you? What are you grateful for?
It all starts by reframing your perspective.
