Reflection:
In February we celebrate Rare Disease Day, and it has me thinking about how all of us can make a difference. Leadership is influence and with influence we can advocate!
Rare may not affect you, but it has a great impact on those it does affect. What if your small act can make a world of a difference? As a leader I would encourage you to release the advocate in you because it matters. Your influence not only has the ability to bring change today but to start a ripple for years to come.
Let’s advocate for those who need a voice. Let’s amplify it and give them a spotlight. Rare doesn’t need to stay rare.
Think on this:
1. Awareness
When was the last time you learned about one of the many rare diseases? It starts with making yourself aware and getting informed. You don’t know what you don’t know.
2. Advocate
When was the last time you used your voice, influence, and knowledge to advocate for rare? To advocate is to help, support and speak for others. You can make a difference.
3. Add value
When was the last time you gave your time and money to support rare? We can add so much value in rare by giving to research, support resources and community.
The giving of ourselves through volunteering is also an invaluable act.
Plant the seed and see it grow!
