The Power Of Pre-Deciding

April 10, 2023

Pre-deciding. Is it positively or negatively impacting your life?

Maybe you have never thought of the answer to that question. Maybe you haven’t even realized how much you actually pre decide and even more important how much it’s impacting your life.

So what’s the big deal? Well, pre-deciding can set you up for success and winning in your life. It can highlight characteristic in your life such as being a person of your word, being accountable, and being someone who follows through. In a positive way pre-deciding helps you stretch yourself and maximize your potential. It really makes you a person who lives out of their values.

On the other side of that coin though, you can be pre-deciding with a negative outcome.

Not knowing how to pre-decide can be keeping you stuck or captive from moving forward. You can be making emotional decisions instead of decisions from your values.

There are 3 things to be aware of to help you master pre-deciding. Take control of these and take control of your life. Now does life happen? Yes! I completely understand that things out of your control can happen, but that is a small percentage of your life.

The interesting thing is when we choose to lead our lives, rarely is there room for uncontrollable and circumstantial things to take over our lives.

So here are 3 things to be aware of:

Circumstances – If you are not careful you could be living each day based on circumstances. You never make commitments because you live by this idea that you don’t know what might come up. Circumstances can come in the shape of other people implying their values, perspective, and schedule on you.

Emotions – Be aware of your emotions. Emotions express feelings, but those can’t always be trusted. They can be manipulated by circumstances, people, and negative thinking. You may not feel like doing something, but that doesn’t mean it’s not wise or the right thing to do.

Priorities – Understanding your priorities is a must. Sometimes we can have the urgent overwhelm us and take precedent over the important. Not having clear priorities can have us saying yes to things we shouldn’t be, and keeps us from experiencing the power of saying no.

Not knowing how to keep circumstances, emotions and priorities in check could be keeping you stuck. You may not be experiencing growth or winning because you’re setting yourself up for failure.

Think about the priorities in your life and if they are setting you up to have the life you want. When you know them, make them pillars and values that don’t change. As you live them out hold yourself accountable by writing them down. When you don’t feel like it, act your way to feeling. Consult your schedule not your feelings or your circumstances.

Pre-decide to be a person who follows through and is accountable. Be a person of your word and decide to be an example to others. Live life form victory!
