It’s unsettling to settle.
Let me ask you this. Are you settling in your life or in certain areas of your life?
Or let me ask it in a different way. Have you stopped dreaming? Have you stopped believing? Have you stopped taking risks?
Has settling become a little to familiar and comfortable for you?
I’m writing this to you after sitting in a hot tub post work out, trying to rest and relax. I was dreaming of the things I still want to do and of course was disrupted with thoughts of things I have failed to do in my past. So here is the thing, I am uncomfortable right now with the thought that I may be settling. Uncomfortable with the idea that I may be throwing in the towel and saying this is it I’m done. Its unsettling to me to think I may settle.
If you know anything about me, you know that I have done my best to not settle. I have done my share of things that show faith and risk that may leave you saying, wow you are crazy. Even though that is true I am still guilty of showing up to the party late and missing the mark.
But one thing I do know is that I’m not perfect and its not about perfection. It’s about creating positive and consistent habits. To understand that it’s about growing, not just reaching a goal.
There are many things you can do to not settle but it needs to start with some questions.
Are you dreaming? Are you believing for something big? Do you believe you have gifts, talents, treasures and time? Are you believing you have the potential to accomplish things that would not only affect your life but those around you?
I so whole heartedly believe that you and I have God given potential that needs to be unleashed. I personally don’t believe we have been put on earth to coast and count the days until its over.
If you are breathing and alive today, you have been given the gift of another day. Start asking why, because you do have something to offer, and you’re not done yet.
You don’t have to settle. In fact, I hope you don’t.
So dream on, believe, take risks, get uncomfortable, have faith, have hope, do your part.
I’ll leave you with this – When was the last time you did something for the first time?
