Have you heard of the popular saying that goes like this “the grass is always greener on the other side”? I have heard it many times and if I can be honest, I find it to be a very negative and dangerous statement. It can poison your mindset and lead to negative outcomes. If that statement is true, when things get hard in your marriage you will go look for someone else, when your business or work gets hard you will quit and think moving on is the best thing. If things are not going well in your life you may find yourself in a downwards spiral that believes the world is against you and there is no hope.
It can also put us in a posture of comparison, envy, coveting and lusting over what others have or who they are. On the other side of that coin, it can also devalue you as a person. Speaking a lie to you that what you do will never be good enough and what’s the point of trying.
Here is the truth. The grass is not always greener on the other side, but the grass is always greener where you water it! You don’t have to live in a state of scarcity, lacking and down on your luck. You also don’t have to live under expectations or limitations of others. There is a little catch though, you need to put some work into it. The grass is not going to water itself, but with some focused intentional commitment to bettering your situation and yourself, you will see growth.
So, what does the grass symbolize in your life? Is it your job, your business, your relationships, your dreams, your family etc.? Maybe your grass is not as healthy as you would like, so here is a question for you. What are you willing to do about it?
Let me give you some thoughts on how you can water your grass and start seeing the green (growth) you are looking for.
If you want better relationships – make time, be present, communicate and build trust.
If you want to better yourself – invest in yourself, believe in yourself, be growth focused and create daily habits that add value to yourself.
Your business could be better? -Seek mentors, learn new skills, develop your leadership and value people.
Want to live in abundance – Be grateful, be generous, plant good seeds, live in positivity and dream big.
Have a solution seeking mindset and ask yourself, What am I learning? How can I grow? How can I increase my impact.
I’m not saying its going to be easy, but I am saying its going to be worth it. Go water your grass!
Grow as you go!
