Someone once said, “yesterday ended last night”. Can you pause for moment and let that sink in. A simple but powerful truth. One could make an argument that the lack of purpose, vision, desire, goals and plans you have could be keeping you from entering into your greatest potential. I completely agree with that by the way, but I also think there is another big player keeping you from moving forward. Carrying your past around. Not only carrying it around, but finding your identity in it.
Regardless of who you are or what you do, can I say that you are not your past!
Life can be full of challenges, upsets, and disappointments but they were never meant to be fatal. They were meant to be building blocks and a springboard forward. If there are things from your past that you’re not proud of, can I remind you that they are events that took place in your life. It’s so important to separate the event from the person. Or to say it another way, to separate what you have done from who you are. You are not your past and your past does not need to reflect who you are today. It also definitely does not have to be who you are in the future.
We all have the desire to maximize the wins and minimize the losses. Remember it’s not a failure if we learn from it. So let me encourage you, it’s not about living a failure free life, but living a life that learns and grows from all experiences.
Let me say it again you are not your past, failures, mess ups, or disappointments. You are full of potential, gifted, full of value and you have so much to offer the world!
Seek to have a great mindset, surround yourself with good people, and have a vision for your life.
Grow as you go!
