January 30, 2024
Mental health effects us all no matter how old we are, where we are from, or what we do. The important thing is that we start with acknowledging the impact and that there is something we can do about it. There is no shame in asking for help. Getting the right people and resources around you can be the thing you need to help you become the best version of yourself.  Today I bring on my guest Vanessa Iceton who is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.  She is the proud owner and CEO of Pearl Psychological. As a Registered Psychologist, she wholeheartedly believes in the transformative power of healing and personal growth. Her core values are Wisdom, Integrity, Loyalty, Purity, and Serenity. Her focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths.  Vanessa has long-term experience working with a wide variety of mental health illnesses. Vanessa is skilled and trained in the delivery of evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). She is also a Grief Recovery Specialist and runs a Grief Recovery Support Group.  In this episode we discuss... - Vanessa's personal story and journey with mental health. - How our past, failures, and experiences contribute to our beliefs about who we are. - The importance of acknowledging and being honest about our mental health. - Understanding what grief looks like in our lives. - What it looks like to unroot some trauma in our lives. - The importance of asking for help and what that looks like.
